Since June of 2009, people have been working to build a fundamental text that defends every user’s rights to take advantage of this wonderful toolbox called the Internet.
The media of the future is under constant attack by groups that would like to control it or keep people from fully using it.
Anonymous so-called ‘pirates’ have collected ideas, old and new, with roots ranging from the foundations of democracy to last Saturday’s bowling game.
Lots of people have contributed and worked together to build the text you can read here.
Everyone must know that there are ways to free the ‘8th Continent’, to safe-guard an endangered shining beacon of civilisation’s brightest candles : Free-speech, freedom of opinion, freedom of access to knowledge and education. The Internet can carry the light of those candles to everyone.
You are hereby invited to join the debate around this text, which we plan to conduct with the whole cyber community. |

Welcome to the official site of the commission for a Declaration of Digital Rights, an ambitious project initiated by the Pirate Party of France and currently in debate mainly within the French-speaking Pirate Parties.
This platform was created to regularly publish information about the text’s progress, and to receive feedback from all Internet users who feel concerned about their freedoms. |
